The second day began with a road trip to Brighton in yet again the rain. Struggled to find a carpark and eventually did find one that cost £16 to park – that’s actually more than Park Lane in London. True fact.
The Brighton Dome is a pretty little venue, which reminds me of the Albert Hall but in a smaller way. We were given a sneaky peek by a proud emplyee of the place and saw the roadies setting up all of the lighing and stage equipment which Editors seem to have improved somewhat from the End Has A Start Tour.
We are let into the venue at seven and take our place slightly to the left this time between Tom’s second synth and Russell who is always great to watch – he always has a load of fun and gives you a nod or thumbs up if he likes your crazy dancing.
Same support bands as before, same sets although they aren’t that well recieved as they were in Bournemouth.
Editors enter the stage a quarter past nine and start with In This Light and On This Evening. Brighton is just as rough as last night with a group of guys coming from nowhere, singing the songs wrong and trying to push to the front. Still, it’s quite entertaining and a lot of fun really.
They have the same setlist as last night although they play Camera instead of the Boxer which is amazing live as I can’t remember the last time I heard it, maybe 2005. Surely not?
Highlights of the night are Escape The Nest which gets the crowd going – of all of the songs people go mad for, this seems to be the most popular, which is strange because it wasn’t even a single! And also Smokers, which again turns into a mass sing along, it’s such a pretty little song that people have just fallen in love with.
The night comes to a close with Fingers in the Factories, I almost didn’t want it to end. Got the thumbs up from Russell so we must have been singing dancing our little hearts out.
Roadie comes up to us and says he’s got something for us, something fun. He hands over what I can only describe as the top of one of Ed’s drums in which he wrote the date of the gig . Amazing! Something for the wall of awesomeness! Cheers Roadie! 🙂
